Aims and Objectives

Aims

The Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa is a voluntary coordinating body whose primary aim is to foster and co-ordinate the practice and teaching of resuscitation, and to promote uniformity and standardization of resuscitation techniques.

Objectives

The Objectives of the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa are:

To foster and co-ordinate the practice and teaching of resuscitation
To promote the need for uniformity and standardization of resuscitation techniques as expressed by participants from all interested parties
To provide a forum for discussion of all aspects of resuscitation
To foster interest in, and promulgate information regarding resuscitation
To gather and collate scientific information regarding resuscitation techniques; to modify those techniques where applicable on the basis of such information
To promote simplicity and uniformity in techniques and terminology regarding resuscitation
To provide an advisory and resource service regarding techniques, equipment, teaching methods and teaching aids
To foster research into methods of practice and teaching of resuscitation
To pursue the development of standards for resuscitation equipment
To establish regular communications with other bodies with similar objectives, both in Southern Africa and overseas
To consider and advise on the means of obviating circumstances in which resuscitation may become necessary
To do all such acts and things as are incidental, or subsidiary to all or any of the above objectives

The methods of implementing the Aims and Objectives of the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa are:

To develop and publish policy statements which can be used as guidelines towards standardization of resuscitation procedures in Southern Africa
To review world literature and research in resuscitation
To review and update policies by a process of consultation with member bodies and other experts
To act as a resource for anyone wanting authoritative material on the subject
To advise publishers of inaccurate or inappropriate resuscitation material
To review resuscitation material and equipment
